In good writing, words become one with things.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

The people who influence us most are not those who buttonhole us and talk to us, but those who live their lives like the stars in heaven and the lilies in the field, perfectly simply and unaffectedly. Those are the lives that mould us. ~Oswald Chambers

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.

Forever Campagining for Homeschooling and the Benefits

The man who wrote this article has published numerous LONG term studies on the benefits of homeschooling.  He is associated with the HSLDA (home school legal defense association).   I actually prefer many of his other studies more as they are rigorous and focused on very specific data.     If you are a home schooler or are against homeschooling, interesting read. ...

"A Letter to My Children About Marriage" by Kelly

A good article shared by Brendan's Aunt Alda on Facebook... this website is pretty interesting too if you have time to browse around :) I am always working to become a better and less selfish wife and mother... God help me as I remember to be more Christlike and not just to make all the beds!

Men, Power, and God

Apparently there was a hot discussion going on in circles I don't tread regarding God being a "masculine God." I recently read this article by Richard Beck from Abilene Christian University which I really enjoyed and wanted to share. I like how Beck thinks - he can look through the surface of an  argument and find what is underneath. This is something I try to do when confronted with challenges. Understand that much of what I am saying is expanding on Dr.

Cheap? Energy

According to this article, there is a new inflatable "blimp" turbine, which can produce a significant amount of cheap energy - low maintenance, fast setup. They envision it being used in small villages and military camps. I could see it being used by exploration groups - maybe even tethered on ships at sea? Of course they have their own water-driven generators. Of course it seems like a prime target for any attacks from militants and the like...but still!

Another Nice Article on the Decision to Homeschool

Brendan and I fully recognize that homeschooling is not the best choice for all families.  But, I think a lot of people might be surprised at the blessings it brings if they can get over the initial hurdle of committing to educate their own children at home. I know I have been very pleasantly surprised by the hidden blessings of homeschooling and how much I truly enjoy it. Don't get me wrong..

Inadequacies I Relate to As a Homeschooling Mom

I really liked this article because it described many of the things I feel as a new home schooling mom.  I have found that many articles on homeschooling present a pretty subjective view of the call to educating children at home.  I do NOT believe that homeschooling is right for every family and feel that God directs all of us differently  in our paths to lead to our children to Him.  I think that this assumption that many families put forth that homeschooling is the only way to go can be hurtful and divisive even in the Christian community.   That being said,

Breaking Point? We've run out of air!

According to this article on CNN, The US is rapidly running out of airwaves for mobile phones. Smartphone and tablets require more and more uninterrupted "airwaves" - the mobile spectrum is apparently a finite resource and we may run out by early next year.

Mouse Bombs and Baby Biters

Old but interesting news... I saw this article about an interesting method for controlling a dangerous pest in Guam. A news broadcast about this is linked to the left.
