In good writing, words become one with things.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

The people who influence us most are not those who buttonhole us and talk to us, but those who live their lives like the stars in heaven and the lilies in the field, perfectly simply and unaffectedly. Those are the lives that mould us. ~Oswald Chambers

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.

I was told that if I wrote an autobiography, this would be a good title. I suppose that's the impression people are left with, which is OK with me. It's better than the sour smell of desperation that hovered about my nerdy noggin not so long ago. How quickly our lives corner from one direction to another. Our every-day life seems to move along without much variation, but we look back and marvel at the way things have gone. I'm sure it's a natural thing; we rarely see past our own noses, and are too busy surviving the pivotal moments to see them for what they are.

One second you're typing away, and the next there is a rubber band twanging off the back of your head. One day your puppy fits in your hand, the next he's knocked you onto the floor with a crotch-punch. One moment you're kissing your wife, the next you're holding a brand new baby girl (that's a warning, kids; kissing is dangerous and best left for professionals).

Time flies while, all-too-often, we crawl. I hope that at the end of my life people can say that I stood up and ran the race I was called to. I plan to win that race by strength beyond my means, perseverance beyond my power. (know what I mean?)
