The End of the Beginning

So Avri is doing amazing. The rest of us are going to need some adjustments :) We’re all irritable and getting very little sleep. BUT we’ll do fine. It’s amazing how much an extra child and a set of stairs changes things compared to last time. Poor Sarah tries not to use the stairs much, but between those and our super-high bed, she’s hurting. Avri is eating well and pooping more, which means less yellow skin and some relief for mommy’s body. Aria is eager and a little emotional about her restraints in regard to the baby. But as always her base nature is sweet and caring and she is getting along fine. I - well I’m doing a lot of stair climbing, laundry, dishes, cleaning, etc. Stuff I manage to avoid most of the time so my pride is a little hurt. But when I made the video (4 Days of Avrielle) I cried. Several times. Thank you, God.

Going home

After much stress, Avrielle is going home with us! It is an answer to fervent prayer. She failed her car seat test yesterday (her oxygen level didn’t stay up), but the nurses thought maybe they did it wrong, re-ran the test ahead of schedule and she passed just fine. She is 4.2 lbs now.
Sarah’s nursing is a nightmare, poor thing. She can share the details if you ask, but I’ll keep it out of the internet for her sake.
Aria is SO excited. What an amazing big sister. Her constant dialogue about Avri is a bit grating for us post-hospital but in general we love it, and are grateful for the exuberance that she shows for being a helper and sister.

Hospital Blues

So Avri and Mom are doing OK... but Avri is losing weight. That’s to be expected at first, but she’s so tiny.... We don’t know if she can go home with Sarah or not on Saturday.
Sleep is non existent. Although the nurses help with everything, they’re in every hour round-the-clock. They do baby tests at 3am. Etc. No sleep for us :) Sarah, at least, is drugged.
Avrielle is amazing. Like Aria, she is so strong for her size and premature birth. She rarely cries (I know this may change). She’s beautiful. All the nurses come to see her.

Born April 13, 2:26pm 4lb 6oz (now they’re saying it was 4lb 5oz) 18in
Things went great. She's even well enough to be in our room with us! if her bloodsugar or temp drops they may put her in the NICU. So far she's even nursing, which is awesome.
Please continue to pray that both of them do well. I am still nervous about Sarah's clotting but everything is fine so far.
Avrielle is a healthy little booger with (so far) blue eyes, sarah's ears and mouth, my face and nose ( maybe?).
